According to the "TRIBUNE News", the Coalition of Northern Groups(CNG), has advised the ruling party, All Progressive Congress (APC), the Peoples Democratic Party( PDP),and other parties to desist from zoning, ahead of the 2023 Presidential election.
The Coalition Group went ahead to maintain their stance of paying deaf ears to the flag bearer of any political party that refuses to heed to their advice against zoning.
In his public address to Journalists, on Monday in Abuja, Mr Abdulazee Suleiman, the spokesperson of CNG, said that he finds the move by the South to be unconstitutional.
However, here are two reasons the northern coalition has advised the PDP, APC, and others against zoning:
1) To Create Room For Equal Representation In Governance
The spokesperson of the CNG, said that no conspiracy will stop the north from presenting an able bodied northerner as candidate in view for the presidency, in the PDP, in 2023, irrespective of body language, or party ideologies.
2) To Resist Any Attempt To Prevent The Northern people's Right To Franchise
According to the spokesperson statement, he said he finds the move by the South as unregulated, and again that it might bring about greater instability in the guise of a contentious, undemocratic, power shift arrangement
