2 Reasons Gov Makinde Gave When He Warned Nigerians Not To Die For Any Politician

Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State has warned Nigerians against carrying arms or dying in defence of any politician.

Notably, the Oyo State governor stated two reasons to back his admonishment to Nigerians, especially the youths.

1. "Politics is not something that should cause anybody to lose his or her life"

Governor Makinde reminded Nigerians that politics is not something that should call for fights or violence. He explained that individuals don't get in politics to kill or get themselves killed by another.

Corollary to this, Nigerians should note that politics is a privilege that guarantee us an opportunity to harmonise cooperative efforts to get a good leader for ourselves. It is not a medium for hatred or violence, but a medium to bring out the best love in us that'll yield a better co-operation to produce a good leader.

2. No Politician Is Worth Dying For

Governor Makinde also explained that Politicians may be from the opposite parties but they still have a common interest. He highlighted how the former governors in Ekiti State – Governor Segun Oni, Governor Ayo Fayose and the incumbent Governor Kayode Fayemi, were able to govern the same state at one time even though they were from different parties. This implies that having a different political party doesn't make politicians any way different from one another. They still have a common interest, which is to rule a common territory. So, he advised those who intend to die because of politicians to have a change of minds.

Moreover, Politicians are not permanent in their political post, rather they come into office, rule and go after their tenure.

What do you have say about those that kill one another for Politicians?
