2023: Why Obi could still emerge as Atiku's running mate in the 2023 presidential election

Playing a second class citizen is not good for Igbos in Nigeria's politics. Even though the Igbos could prefer to be voted into power as the president of Nigeria, but because of the unfavorable condition of the Nigeria political environment, they don't have a choice but to follow with what is available for now, since if you can't beat them, you join them theory in Nigeria politics.

Immediately, the PDP turned the political slot of fielding a southern candidate as its presidential flag bearer into declaring it open. Political observers began to see that the tone of the music favored the north. Atiku Abubakar, the former VP who has been quoted by many analysts as clinching the PDP presidential ticket, is likely to emerge. When this is achieved, the Anambra born politician, Mr. Peter, who is regarded as the finest political gentleman from the South East and who was the flag bearer for Atiku, will likely emerge as the running mate to Atiku again.

This political mathematics equation will likely reduce tension in the South East. It's also going to provide some cosmetic healing to the Igbos in the South East region, who deserve to produce the post of the first citizen in Nigeria in the 2023 general elections. Even though the Igbos will still feel cheated, it's better to be the number two citizen than to play the role of idleness as witnessed in the administration of the APC.

Mr. Peter Obi is credible and prepared to be the next president of Nigeria, but because of the Nigeria factor, it may become difficult to achieve now. Most especially, because of the Igbo's complacent attitude towards their own problems, it might be impossible for Obi to become the president of Nigeria without the help of the South East and other zones. This may not be visible, but I suggest that Obi should submit and work with Atiku, because he stands a chance of getting to the throne after the Atiku regime should they win the 2023 general election.
