High Tension in Niger Delta region!

Reports reaching us has it that there's high tension in the niger delta region following the recent sack/suspension of the Fmr. S.A to the president on Niger Delta affairs and Coordinator of the Presidential Amnesty Programme.

Most of the delegates see this as a welcome development while a percentage of those who benefited directly or indirectly from the suspended S.A have interpreted this to be the works of selfish cabals manipulating the PAP programme in general.

The apointment of a committee chaired by a Northener Mr.Lawal has been totally rejected by the IYC and other interest groups in the region as the amnesty programme is a Niger Delta affair and as such they demand that a Niger Deltan who understands the plight of the people should be at the helm of affairs.

Reports also reaching us has it that there are series of agitations already on-going around the region as to the continous delay in payment of about 2months stipends to the ex-agitators whereas the 2020 fisical years budget has already been signed and most project in the budget is to be funded by resources from this same region,

Our correspondence on ground interviewing one of the ex-agitators categorically stated their 2point agenda, "The Federal Government should put their house in order and find a suitable niger deltan to handle the affairs and secondly immediate payment of all stipends and entitlements owed the ex-agitators or risk high resupmtion of coordinated attacks on oil installations all over the region."

We strongly call on the Federal Government and all other relative agencies responsible for the smooth running of the programme so far to be quick in action as to avoid escalated tensions in the region all over again as this will highly affect the country's IGR.

The President should therefore please order the immediate payment of all allowances & entitlements owed the ex-agitators to diplomatically quench the already growing tensions.
