It could be well recalled that sometime in the year 2020, Senator Abaribe of Abia-South senatorial district, while speaking on the rising insecurity situations at that time, overtly called on President Muhammadu Buhari to resign as the President of the country as a result of the level of insecurity that was existent in the country at that time. At the national house of assembly, Abaribe boldly alleged that President Muhammadu Buhari's administration had failed Nigerians in the aspect of protecting them from insecurity situations.
Observably, it was unpleasant that Abaribe had spoken despondently at the performance of President Buhari in January 2020, which was just the beginning of that year as well as the inception of the second year of Buhari's second regime which started in 2019. He failed to consider the fact that insecurity challenges are probably inevitable in a large country like Nigeria and it only takes time to tackle such challenges.
However, it is imperative for Nigerians to reflect on how the level of insecurity in the country has relatively reduced in 2021 as compared to how it was at the time when Abaribe was calling for the resign of Buhari, and then see reasons why it is high time Abaribe apologized to the president for losing hope on him in 2020.
Why Abaribe Should Apologize:
HE SHOULD CONSIDER THE RECENT RECORDS OF BUHARI IN FIGHTING INSECURITY
Notably, it was under the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari that more than 8000 Boko Haram terrorists surrendered to the Nigerian Army. This is a remarkable record that has justified the efforts of President Buhari in fighting insecurity in Nigeria. It is well known that Boko Haram is a major terrorist group in Nigeria that have contributed to the loss of lives and properties in the country. From this view, it is an outstanding progress that about 8000 of them had surrendered.
In the same vein, it is credited to President Buhari that many bandits and unknown Gunmen have been repelled and killed by the army, there by relieving the insecurity level in several locations of the country.
Therefore, having considered these records, it is paramount at this time for Abaribe to apologize to the president for not having confidence in his ability to tackle insecurity in 2020.
