Former Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, Muhammadu Sanusi has analyzed the real factors that contributed to the worsening state of corruption in Nigeria.

The former Emir of Kano state said the nation would continue to experience corruption if they permit the incompetent hands to be at the helm of affair in the country.

Sanusi, who spoke during a webinar tagged, ‘The sustainability of society’, also claims that corruption would continue in the country if there is nepotism in the system.
He stated that these factors would continue to prevent Nigeria’s development and affect their growth.
He said, “Morally and religiously speaking, corruption is a problem.
“some of the problems we have is incompetence and that is why I keep saying we must pay attention to excellence. There must be a merit test; a competence test.
“For me, I think the root of corruption is when we begin to downplay merit, competence and achievement.
“The worst form of corruption we have in this country is nepotism."
