Buhari should resign, hand over to Osinbajo – Northern Elders spokesman, Baba-Ahmed

The spokesman of the Northern Elders Forum, NEF, Hakeem Baba - Ahmed has asked President Muhammadu Buhari to resign.

Baba-Ahmed said Buhari should just resign now because things would get tougher.

The former Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Secretary gave the advice in reaction to the President’s revelation that he is eager to leave power.

Buhari spoke when he hosted some All Progressives Congress (APC) governors, legislators and chieftains at his Daura home in Katsina.

Noting that he has less than a year left in office, the Nigerian leader assured that he would do his best in the remaining months.

“I wish the person who is coming after me the very best. I am eager to go. I can tell you it has been tough”, he said.

Steer clear of Bauchi politics – Bauchi group warns Buhari’s Minister

Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development, Sadiya Umar Farouk has been advised to steer clear of Bauchi State politics.

The advice was contained in a statement by the coordinator, APC Initiative for Good Governance, Bauchi State, Nasiru Cigari, made available to DAILY POST, on Tuesday evening.

The group alleged that the Minister, who is married to the gubernatorial candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) Saddique Baba Abubakar was unnecessarily interfering on some political issues.

He said, “It is no longer a news that the ticket of APC House of Representatives of Bauchi Federal constituency is vacant, following the withdrawal of its standard bearer, Hon Shehu Aliyu Musa who was nominated to serve as the running mate of Bauchi State APC gubernatorial candidate, Ambassador Baba Sadique Abubakar from Giade LGA of Bauchi North Senatorial zone of the State.

Ex-agitators fault planned arrest of amnesty programme’s coordinator

Former militant leader in the Niger Delta, Reuben Wilson, has berated the Senate Committee on Public Accounts for threatening to issue an arrest warrant against the Interim Administrator of the Presidential Amnesty Programme, Col. Milland Dikio (retd.) over the N10bn said to be unaccounted for by the amnesty office as alleged in Auditor - General of the Federation’s 2018 report.

Also, ex- agitators belonging to the Western flank of the now defunct Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta,have warned politicians to stay away from the amnesty office, unless their involvements are in tandem with the mandate of the peace of the Niger Delta.

The PUNCH had reported that the committee’s Chairman, Senator Matthew Urhogbide, in issuing the threat, claimed that Dikio failed to honour invitations extended to him by the committee.

However, Wilson, while reacting to the statement on Tuesday, wondered why anyone who had the interest of the Niger Delta at heart would try to pick up a fight against Dikio, who he claimed, had utilised the amnesty office well beyond the imagination of ex- agitators.

Two arrested for picking pockets at Osun APC rally

Two suspected pickpockets, Tope Jaiye and Musibau Isiaka have been arrested by the personnel of the Osun Amotekun Corps.

The suspects were nabbed by the security agents at the Osogbo City Stadium, venue of the All Progressives Congress (APC) gubernatorial grand finale campaign rally in Osogbo on Tuesday.

Jaiye stated that he came from Akure, Ondo State, while Isiaka also said he came from Ibadan, Oyo State for the act.

Upon their arrests, they confessed to having been in the act for so many years and have been arrested by the police on so many occasions.

Meanwhile, the Osun Amotekun Corps Field Commander, Amitolu Shittu, chatting with journalists, stated that the suspects were apprehended after they were caught in the act by their operatives at the APC mega rally at the stadium.
