"Hillary Clinton Lost US Election Because Of Twitter"-Lai Mohammed

The Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed, has claimed that Twitter was responsible for the loss of Hillary Clinton in the United States presidential election.

During an appearance on Tuesday before the House of Representatives Committees on Communication, Justice, Information and Culture, and National Security and Intelligence, Mohammed said fake news shared on Twitter influenced the outcome of the election.

Speaking further, Mohammed said most countries are formulating policies to regulate the operations of social media, adding that social media platforms are profit-making ventures that must be duly registered.

COAS Storms Imo State, Gives Fresh Directives To Troops

The Chief of Army Staff, Major-General Farouk Yahaya has paid an on-the-spot visit to Imo to assess the security situation in the state.

Yahaya visited Owerri, the Imo State capital on Wednesday and met with troops of 34 Brigade in Obinze Barracks.

During the visit, the Army chief called on the soldiers to be decisive in dealing with the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), and all other groups responsible for disturbing the peace of the state.

Chuks Ibegbu, a chieftain of the Igbo apex socio-political organization, Ohanaeze Ndigbo, has berated Nigerians for suggesting that President Muhammadu Buhari may extend his tenure in 2023 due to insecurity.

Ibegbu, a former Deputy National Publicity Secretary of Ohanaeze, described Nigerians suggesting that Buhari would extend his tenure as “idle.”

Ibegbu said Nigeria operates a constitutional democracy, hence Buhari is expected to adhere to the law.

Timipre Sylva, the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, says he doubts Nigeria’s daily consumption of 60 million litres of petrol.

He disclosed this at a stakeholders meeting organised by the corporation to stop smuggling. According to the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), Nigeria is losing millions of litres of petrol daily to smugglers.

He added that illegal export of products through the borders, whether the land or sea, must be stopped, adding Operation White commissioned in 2020 had not worked effectively.
