Presidential Tribunal Can Simply Give Judgement And Explain Reason For The Judgement Later - Anumudu
By Lighthousemedia (self media writer) | 19 days ago
A Lawyer and Policy Analyst, Isaac Anumudu, has disclosed that the presidential election petition can be concluded by the presidential election tribunal within 7 days as a means of ensuring that the judgement is delivered on time.
According to Isaac Anumudu, the Constitution of Nigeria makes it clear that the election tribunal can even go ahead and give judgement on an election case and decide to give reasons for delivering such a judgement at a later date.
Isaac Anumudu went on to say that there are parts of the petition which could be handled by the tribunal without exceeding 14 days. Isaac Anumudu suggested that once the court makes it decision and those not want to waste further time in the explanation of its decision, it can reschedule a date when it will explain it clearer terms why it ruled the way it had done.
Isaac Anumudu's opinion came at a time when some Nigerians are calling on the court to finish the presidential election petition before the swearing in of Bola Tinubu as the President-elect of Nigeria.
