It is yet another Independence anniversary celebration for Nigerians. It is yet another time to sit down and reflect and take stock of how Nigeria has fared as a nation. 61 years in the life of a nation is worthy of our assessment.
Since independence, Nigeria, bonded together by the 1914 amalgamation concept of our colonial masters, have, over the years, weathered the storm despite the diversity of tribe and tongues.
Beginning from the post-independence era, the unity of the country has always been on trial and it is to the credit of successive governments that Nigeria as a nation is still existing as one.
Ethnic differences, religious differences and intolerance, banditry, kidnappings, clamour for secession have all combined to make the country difficult for the present government of President Muhammadu Buhari.
It is to the credit of Buhari's government that Nigeria as a country is still unified despite all the problems that have dogged and plagued it. Despite ethnic clashes, religious bigotry, ethnic and religious intolerances, banditry, kidnappings, corruptions, wanton killings, and destruction of properties , the various ethnic groups are still existing in peace and unity.

For rising to the challenges posed by all these problems, the government deserves praise as it has not allowed the labours of our heroes past who had fought gallantly to keep Nigeria one, to be in vain.
