Headlines: Nigerians Receive Yet Another Good News On COVID-19, Shehu Sani passes verdict on Buhari’s Minister, Pantami

The Centers for Disease Control in Nigeria, NCDC, have released 70 patients with COVID-19, bringing the total number of recoveries to 154,177.

The agency announced this via a tweet on a verified Twitter page as they confirmed 44 new cases of the virus in four states and FCT Abuja.

These developments resulted in a total of 163,837 registered cases nationwide.

Another Nollywood Actress Dies

Nollywood actress Ashabi Ayantunde, also known as Iya Ife, has passed away.

He died on Sunday evening, April 11, after a brief illness in Ile Ife, Osun. He is said to have fallen ill and was rushed to Ile-Efe, Osun, where he died.

The late Iya Ife starred in several films including Oro Aye, Terror, Atidade Kinihun, Afefe, Onibara Aje, Olori, Old Soja, and Ogbologbo.

Kaduna: 2 Killed, 7 Homes And Vehicles Burnt In Bandit Attack

On Monday, bandits killed two people in an attack on the village of Wawan Rafi II village in Zangon Kataf regional government area, Kaduna state.

The deceased was identified as Joshua Dauda and his seven-year-old son Philip Dauda. In the attack, the bandits burned down seven houses, one car and one motorcycle.

Homeland and Homeland Security Commissioner Samuel Aruwan said in a statement on Monday that security patrols stationed in the community would force the bandits to retreat to the forest.

Aruwan said that military officers found eight empty boxes containing 7.62 mm ammunition at the attack location.

 "So far there have been two bodies that have been moved. Residents will be informed of the next developments," he said.

Shehu Sani, a former member of parliament, responded to news that President Muhammadu Buhari’s Minister of Communication and Digital Economy, Ibrahim Isa Pantami appearing on US watchlist.

Sani, who represented the Kaduna Central Senate District in the 8th Assembly, supported the minister, saying, "Pantami is not openly recognized as a minister who preaches or advocates violence in its Islamic activities."

According to the former lawmaker, "extremists and terrorists dismiss him as a moderate Italian mullah. Anyone who marks him differently should review and reconsider objectively."
