Few hours after the National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party PDP, Prince Uche Secondus was called a liar by the Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, Prince Secondus has released a statement reacting to governor Wike's allegation, dismissing the claim and declaring that he is not ready to join words with any leader of the party now or in the future.
Recall that governor Wike had accused Secondus of being responsible for all the problems the PDP is facing in some states in Nigeria during the 60th birthday celebration of the former governor of Cross River State, Liyel Imoke in Calabar.
Governor Wike, in his statement at the birthday celebration blamed Secondus, saying that he can not be trusted, calling him a sword with double edge, revealing that he will say something and do the opposite in reality.
While reacting to the allegation on Tuesday, Secondus in a statement through his media aide, Ike Abonyi, explained that as leader of a big party like the PDP, insults and criticism were bound to be thrown at him by anybody and at any time.
According to the statement which read in parts, “Our attention has been drawn to the several calls and messages concerning the recent allegation of the Rivers State Governor, Neysom Wike, who tried to tarnish and damage the good image of our national chairman.
“We would like to respond that no matter how hard they try, either by insults or name-calling, those things can not make the national chairman exchange words with any leader of the party not to talk of a state governor."
“Leaders are like rubbish bags, they take all kinds of harsh words and insults from anybody."
“Prince Uche Secondus in his wisdom has decided to take any negative statement from anybody against him as one of the blows a good leader must receive and endure to get stronger, the statement added.”
