"Buhari Has Failed Nigerians" - Northern Elders
The Northern Elders Forum (NEF) has regretted that in spite of assurances from the President Muhammadu Buhari government that it will bring to an end banditry and kidnappings in the region, the lives of Nigerians are becoming more endangered every day.
NEF said this in a statement yesterday while condemning the abduction of 317 schoolgirls from Government Girls Secondary School in Jangebe, Talata Mafara Local Government Area of Zamfara State.
Rid Nigeria Of Bandits, Mosop Tells Fg
Due to widespread insecurity across the country, the Movement for the Survival of the Ogoni People says that the Federal Government is losing control of security and needs to rid Nigeria of bandits.
MOSOP said Nigeria and Nigerians were under siege, adding that the only way forward was for the government to immediately take control of the security of lives and property.
MOSOP President, Mr Fegalo Nsuke, said these in a statement on Saturday titled, ‘Insecurity: Nigerians under siege, MOSOP tells FG.’
Igboho Meets Gani Adams
Popular Yoruba activist, Sunday Adeyemo, better known as Sunday Igboho has met with the Aare Ona Kakanfo of Yorubaland, Aare Gani Adams.
Naija News reports that Sunday Igboho met with Gani Adams at his residence in Lagos on Saturday.
Abducted Zamfara School Girls Regain Freedom
The 317 kidnapped students of the Government Girls Secondary School in Jangebe in Zamfara State have been freed by their captors.
Naija News reports that the students were freed on Sunday morning and they are now in the palace of the Emir of Anka for onward transportation to Gusau, the state capital.
Recall that Maryam Sani, a junior secondary school student of the school had revealed how she escaped abduction.
Speaking to TheCable on Saturday through a translator, Maryam, who is in JSS3, said the gunmen threatened to kill whoever tried to run.
Jonathan Speaks
Goodluck Jonathan has said to liberate people from mental slavery, education must be the top priority of every government.
He stated this weekend at Kaiama during a grand reception in honour of the Bayelsa State Governor, Senator Douye Diri, by the people of his Kolokuma/Opokuma Local Government Area.
“Education is key to development. If you read the history of Singapore, you will see that Lee Kuan Yew that transformed his country from Third World to First World focused on education" Jonathan said.
