Today I'm going to be sharing with you the five Nigerians occupying top positions in an international organisation.
1. Ngozi Okonjo Iweala: She was confirmed the next director general of the world trade organisation (WTO) on the 15th of February 2021.Ngozi Okonjo Iweala is the first woman and African to head the International Organisation. She has served in various capacity in the internatigotnal monetary funds (IMF).
2. Akinwumi Adesina: he was first elected president of the African Development Bank (AFDB) In 2015. He is the first Nigerian to assume that position. He was also the former minister of agriculture and rural development.
3. Chile Eboe Osuji: He was elected President of the International Criminal Court (ICC). The 58-year-old worked at the International Criminal tribunal for Rwanda. He was also the legal advisor to the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights.
4. Amina Mohammed: She is the deputy secretary general of the United Nations (UN) in 2017 a position she still holds.She has served on numerous international advisory boards and panels.
5. Mohamed Barkindo: He has been serving as the Secretary General of the organisation of the petroleum exporting countries (OPEC) since 2016.
