Nigerian Singer, Naira Marley has declared his support for the reelection of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos state.
He noted that the incumbent Governor of Lagos state deserves to be reelected because of the infrastructural development he has initiated in Lagos.
He stated this on Wednesday night, 15th March 2023, via his Instagram page, noting that he was not paid to publicly declare his choice of candidate
He said, “I gotta say..I just gotta say…I’m gonna put one or two things inside this thing you get me.
“I’m not (for the) All Progressives Congress, I’m not (for the) Peoples Democratic Party, I’m not (for the) Labour Party…but where Lagos is going right now, we don’t need to start testing at all".
“I think Sanwo-Olu is the right person for the job. This is not a paid promo or nothing. But just look at now, everything he’s done, common guys … he’s achieved a lot, the results are there, you get me, and he also has experience you know,” he said.
The singer said he knew Sanwo-Olu was going to make Lagos great.
“You can tell, look at the result… actions speak louder than words obviously. If you see all the ongoing projects, common bro,” he added.
“You can’t say we should not talk now because of one thing or the other, we’re Nigerians, we’re not the APC.”
I’m optimistic court’ll uphold justice — Obi

The presidential candidate of the Labour Party, LP, Mr. Peter Obi, has expressed confidence that despite several misgivings, Nigeria’s judiciary will rise to the occasion and give judgment in favour of a better nation in the presidential election matter before it.
Obi said this while responding to questions when he appeared as a guest on the Channels TV’s Sunrise Daily on Thursday.
He said his confidence is born out of the fact that the justices are Nigerians and are aware of how bad the situation has been in the country and only truth and justice will save this country.
Obi is challenging the process leading to the declaration of Asiwaju Ahmed Tinubu as President-elect.
He said: “They, the justices desire a better Nigeria for themselves and their children and that can only come through doing the right thing and telling the people the truth of any situation.
"For me, I have no cause to doubt the courts. It’s we the politicians that are bent on corrupting every aspect of our national life.”
In response to a question as to what his reaction will be if the nation decides to go on with business as usual, the LP candidate said he would be shocked if the nation goes on with the rascality of criminality.
The former Anambra state governor noted that it is disheartening that Nigeria, which prides itself as the giant of Africa, cannot deliver a simple election when in contrast smaller nations like Ghana could deliver with a small margin of error and the world’s largest democracy, India, also delivers with less than a five percent error margin.
On the conduct of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, during the last presidential and National Assembly elections, Obi restated his earlier position that what INEC declared is false, pointing out that he’s challenging the process and the declaration.
Obi said: “My trust in INEC has evaporated with what they did on February 25, setting out a rule for the election and abandoning it in the middle of the game.”

The Rivers State Police Command has denied reports making rounds on social media that a Divisional Police Officer shot dead an Inspector attached to his division.
Spokesperson of the Command, Grace Iringe-Koko said this in a statement sent to newsmen in Port Harcourt on Thursday.
Iringe-Koko said there was neither a shooting nor a police facility called ‘9th Mile Police Station’ in any part of Rivers state as contained in the trending publication.
She describes the publication as the handiwork of mischievous elements aimed at creating panic in the minds of the public and disaffection within the police.
The statement reads, “The attention of the Rivers State Police Command has been drawn to a social media publication making the rounds that the DPO of 9th Mile Division shot an Inspector of Police attached to his division.
“The command wishes to notify the general public that there is no truth in the said publication; as no such incident has been reported in any part of the command".
“It is important to point out that there is no Division known as “9th Mile Police Station” in Rivers State. Moreover, there is no record to show that the named DPO is serving in Rivers State".
The command said that as a matter of fact, there has been no shooting incident in the Command Formation (divisions and tactical teams) since January 2023.
Therefore, the publication is a figment of the imagination of some mischievous persons who want to create fear in the minds of the public and create rancour and disaffection within the police.
Also, the statement noted that the Commissioner of Police, Okon Effiong, affirmed that the Rivers State Police Command is committed to exercising the highest level of professionalism in the discharge of its onerous responsibilities.
Effiong urged all law-abiding citizens in the state to go about their lawful businesses without fear, as the Police are well able to protect them.
The CP therefore urged media platforms and journalists to ensure the verification of stories before publication.
