The Former Akwa Ibom State Resident Electoral Commissioner, Mr Mike Igini has granted a Post-Presidential Election interview after he took his time to educate Nigerians on the use of BVAS before the election. Igini who was interviewed on Arise News stated that he got over 2,500 text messages from Nigerians who wanted him to share his views on the conduct of the election.
Speaking on the election, Mike Igini said that it is absolutely wrong to say that the BVAS failed in the election, adding that one thing the BVAS has successfully done is to stop the falsification of election results. Speaking further, Mike Igini said that the only issue is the failure of the commission to upload the Presidential Results from the polling units as promised, which according to him is one major component of the entire voting process.
Mike Igini is of the view that BVAS performed optimally, but the only flaw in the process is the inability of INEC to transmit results real-time from the polling unit, and according to him, he said he won't like to speak much on that since the issue is already in court.
