A former Vice President and candidate of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, in the last presidential election, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, on Friday, berated the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, for filing processes to defend the qualifications of the President-elect, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu. Atiku maintained that it was wrong for the electoral body to throw its weight behind the president-elect, whose election victory is being challenged in court.
While accusing INEC of fighting a proxy war for Tinubu, the PDP candidate who came second in the presidential election held on February 25, through his team of lawyers led by Chief Chris Uche, SAN, urged the Presidential Election Petition Court sitting in Abuja, to dismiss a counter affidavit and preliminary objection the Commission filed to challenge his petition.
According to Atiku, INEC lacked the legal capacity to defend the controversy surrounding Tinubu’s educational qualifications, his age as well as his alleged indictment in a drug-related case in the United States of America, USA.

The Lamidi Apapa-led faction of the Labour Party (LP) has blamed the embattled National Chairman of the party, Barr. Julius Abure for the Federal High Court, Kano judgement that sacked the Enugu State Governor-elect, Alex Otti and all the candidates of the Labour Party in Abia and Kano States in the just concluded elections.
The National Publicity Secretary of the party, Abayomi Arabambi, who disclosed this in a statement he made available to newsmen in Abeokuta, Ogun State capital, revealed that Abure did not submit names of the party’s registered members in Kano and Abia States to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), at the appropriate time.
Arabambi noted that the failure of the party to submit its membership register to the INEC within 30 days before their primaries render the process invalid.
He said, “The truth is that Abure and his gang held onto these names and didn’t submit them to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in accordance with Section 72 of the Electoral Act, 2022 (asamended)”.

For two long nights between May 15 and 16, Kubwat and Fungzai villages in Mangu Local Government Area, LGA, of Plateau State were killing fields. Terrorists unleashed mayhem on the villages, razing houses and foodstuffs, and killed no fewer than 100 persons mostly women and children.
So far, 50 bodies have been discovered. The death toll could rise as people were still running in droves from the sacked communities to Mangu town and beyond to seek refuge as of press time.
The lawmaker representing Mangu/Bokkos Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Mr Solomon Maren, said the attacks were among many in the constituency where 200 persons had been killed in the last four months.
The 100 lives wasted in Mangu are among the 63,111 that have been killed since outgoing President Muhammadu Buhari assumed office on May 29, 2015.
According to data obtained from the Nigeria Security Tracker, NST, a project of the Council on Foreign Relations’ Africa programme, the deaths arose from terrorism, banditry, Herders/farmers clashes, communal crises, cult clashes, and extra-judicial killings among others.
NYSC DG Lied On Mbah’s Certificate_PDP

The PDP, Enugu State, has faulted the claim by the Director-General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Brig Gen Yusha’u Dogara Ahmed, that he told the Governor-elect of Enugu State, Dr. Peter Mbah, that his discharge certificate was not issued by the NYSC.
The party, however, said his claim was in sync with the agency’s conspiracy, deceit, and willful misrepresentation of facts, which necessitated Mbah’s N20 Billion lawsuit against it.
It is equally described as an irony situation where the DG said he would not want to comment on the matter since it was in court, only to go ahead to not only deny knowledge of the lawsuit and consequent court order but also to act in clear contempt of the court.
The Director of Communications and Spokesperson of the Enugu State PDP Campaign Council for the 2023 general elections, Barr. Nana Ogbodo stated these at a press conference on Friday where he reacted to an interview by the NYSC DG on Arise News earlier in the day.
