Former governor of Ekiti state, Ayodele Fayose, has disclosed that former governor of Lagos state, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, tried everything he could to persuade him to abandon the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in favor of the All Progressives Congress (APC), but he declined.

In an exclusive interview with DAILY INDEPENDENT, Fayose, who said that President Muhammadu Buhari had killed the APC, said he agreed with Rivers state governor Nyesom Wike, who compared the ruling party to cancer.

Acute insecurity not new in Nigeria: Lai Mohammed:

Amid general outcry over the worsening insecurity in Nigeria, the country’s information minister, Lai Mohammed, says nothing new about the security situation and other crises Nigerians are facing.

Mr Mohammed said, “That we have ethnicity issues is not new. IPOB, Boko Haram, and farmer-herders clashes are not new.”

5 Killed As Cultists Clash In Ekiti:

The Ekiti State Police Command On Sunday confirmed the killing of five persons in Ikere Ekiti during a rival cult clash in the town.

The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Ekiti command, ASP Sunday Abutu, said three persons had been arrested in connection with the mayhem.

Zamfara government spends N2.9 billion on Ramadan foodstuffs:

Just a few days into Ramadan, the Zamfara government says it has spent at least N2.9 billion to provide “essential commodities,” which most likely include foodstuffs, to residents.

This was disclosed by the Commissioner for Information, Ibrahim Dosara, in a statement, he issued in Gusau on Sunday.
