Lagos Youth Activist Pulls Out From Judiciary Panel Over Reopening of Lekki Toll Gate

A member of the Lagos State Judiciary Panel of Inquiry and Restitution for the Victims of SARS Related Abuses has pulled out from the panel mainly because of the decision to commence normal economic activities at the Lekki Toll Gate. The aggrieve member identified as Rinu Oduala who is representing the youth class has expressed her sadness and also communicated her stand via her official twitter handle.

She also used the same medium to express the reluctance of the government to see reasons with her and also respect the opinion of the youth she represents on the panel. "But at the end of the day, parties on the panel voted to reopen the toll, citing lost jobs as more important than justice for lost lives through a proceeding that didn’t form a proper quorum without the reps who represent the youth constituency that birthed the idea of the panel, and on whose mandates the panels were set up" she added.

Recall that a sporadic shooting happened in the Lekki Toll Gate that claimed the lives of young protesters with gave rise to the birth of the Judiciary panel to sit and decide on offences and the disbanded police outfit SARS must have committed.
