2023 election: Tinubu needs North alignment if he will be President in 2023 (Opinion)

The unification of Nigeria is something of paramount to every one of us. If Nigeria will be great, everyone must see everyone as brother and sister and not someone from one particular region or not, but for politics and analysis separating the country into zones is inevitable so take the message from the analysis.

Politics is a game of number, and whosoever has the highest number wins irrespective of other factors, it is the case in Nigeria and every other part of the world. The Next General election in Nigeria will be in 2023, with President Muhammadu Buhari not eligible to contest again due to the clause of the constitution that says no man can serve for more than two terms of 8 years. There will be a need for a fresh face in the Aso Rock come 2023.

The Southern region is favoured to produce the next President since the present one is from the North. Many southerners are interested in vying for the post of President. Still, there is nobody in the region that has the political connection, resources and the power to defeat Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

If the South is going to produce President in 2023, Bola Ahmed Tinubu must be the considered candidate else the region might jeopardise the chance of ruling the country.

Here is what Asiwaju Tinubu needs to do:

There must be a strong relationship with Northern Nigeria.

Without mimicking words; northern people are controlling the country. If anyone will be the President of the country, alignment with the North must come else, the person might just be chasing a shadow.

The relationship works well for Olusegun Obasanjo in 1999 and 2023 when the Ogun state man contested for President. His alignment with the North helped him even when he was rejected in his region if Tinubu will be President of the country in 2023, he needs an alliance with the North.

Vice President from the North.

Although, it seems Igbo has been marginalised over the years in the country. They are yet to produce either a President or Vice President since 1999. There will be agitation for them to have President or at least a vice in 2023. Unfortunately, Politics isn’t a game to compensate, it is a game of number, irrespective of who is affected or not, Bola Ahmed needs the number to win, and his best bet will be North Vice President.

He will be expecting to have a bulk of votes coming from that region and their full support instead of picking vice from the South also and leaving the North out totally. Sorry the South East and South-South people, Asiwaju cannot risk doing without the North in 2023.

Managing the affairs of South West APC properly

For Bola Ahmed Tinubu to win the election, his region must align with him and ready to adopt him. Still, with 3 states elections to come in the south-west before the 2023 election, Bola Ahmed Tinubu caucus has a lot more to do in other not to lose the region to People Democratic Party before the 2023 election.

Asiwaju must take the elections in Ondo, Ekiti and Osun state serious like he is contesting that election because losing those states to the opposition will cost him the 2023 ambition, He must be very careful of those three states.

If Asiwaju will be President, those three points are inevitable to him in my opinion. He needs to take care of all the three as doing one and leave out another will be an effort in futility, he must understand that South-South ticket will not work for now. The power that resides in the North cannot be compared to any other region in Nigeria when it comes to politics; they have the number and know how to use it.

Asiwaju must also not forget when working on alignment and relax without checking out his home, with three elections to come in his region (South-west) before the main 2023 election, he needs to be watchful and oversee the election.

Do you feel Tinubu will emerge as the President in 2023?
