Opinion: What Should Be Done By Northern Governors After Bandits Killed A Former Gov'ship Aspirant

It is no longer news that former Governorship aspirant in Zamfara State, Alhaji Sagir Hamidu has been shot dead by bandits.

The well-respected political figure was killed by armed bandits along the Kaduna-Abuja highway.

The late politician who is former FCT Director of Protocol was killed when bandits blocked the highway and opened fire on travelers.

The recent killing of Alhaji Sagir Hamidu shows that more should be done by the security agencies in the Northern region of Nigeria.

I will appeal to the Governors in the Northern states where banditry is rampant to call a regional security summit where security matters will be discussed.

Also, the Northern Governors can launch their security networks like the Amotekun Security Network in the South West and Ebube Agu Security Network in the South East region of Nigeria. This will help to complement the efforts of the Nigerian Army and other federal security agencies deployed to the states.
