Two days ago, President Muhammadu Buhari appointed another police officer to replace the Inspector General of Police of the country. President Muhammadu Buhari sacked Muhammed Adamu who happened to be the Inspector General of Police in Nigeria. Usman Alkali Baba is the new acting Inspector General of Police in Nigeria.
The most interesting thing is not the fact that Muhammed Adamu got sacked as the Inspector General of Police in Nigeria but the circumstances that surrounded it. It should be noted that the former Inspector General of Police was on an official assignment in Owerri, a city in Imo State to look into some issues affecting the state in security sector. He ( Adamu) visited Imo State Police command and Imo State correctional service to inspect an attack caused by some unknown gunmen earlier yesterday.
This is not normal and the opposition party in the country should react to it purposefully. If the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) does not react to it, people will believe that the party is no more relevant in country. The opportunity to change the government of this country is coming in the year twenty twenty three and the PDP should be reacting to issues to show that the party is still alive and not dead as some people claim.
Firstly, the People Democratic Party (PDP) should address the act of the presidency as Unitarian act because he didn't involve the country before removing him. Adamu's tenure has expired in some weeks back and Buhari refused to dispose him. Also, apart from that, the PDP should also observe that the new acting Inspector General of Police in Nigeria is from the northern part of the country as well and it is not right for all posts should be occupied by Northerners.
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) should make the two observations to show that they know what is going on in the country and they are following up all what the ruling party is doing under the chairmanship of president Muhammadu Buhari. What can you say about this? Share your views!
