A lot of things have been said about Wike since he was appointed into the cabinet of former Nigerian president, Goodluck Jonathan in 2011. At the moment, there are indications that he might likely contest for the position of the presidency in 2023.
Based on that, this article will take a look at three major political positions Wike has held since 2011 till date.
1. Minister of state for education
Wike was a former Nigerian minister of state for education. He was appointed on 14 July 2011 by former Nigerian president, Goodluck Ebele Jonathan.
2. Interim minister of Education
In 2013 during the reshuffling of his cabinet, Goodluck Jonathan reappointed Wike as the interim minister of Education. He remained in that position until he resigned in 2014 to campaign for the Rivers state gubernatorial elections.
3. The office of the Rivers State governor.
Governor Nyesom Wike is the current governor of Rivers state. In 2015, he was declared the winner of the Rivers state gubernatorial elections. And in 2019, he was re-elected for his second term.
These three major positions were held by Wike between the period of 14 July, 2011 till date.
What do you have to say about it? Do you think Wike has what it takes to be the president of this country?
