Photos Of The Magnificent ADAPALM Plantation In Imo State

Today, we take a look at the largest palm plantation in Nigeria, if not West Africa—Adapalm Mill Nigeria Limited in Ohaji, Imo state.

At the end of the Nigeria-Biafra Civil War; some farm settlements were remodelled, sold or privatised, while others were simply abandoned and allowed to waste.

However, the Ohaji farm settlement in Imo State was re-modelled into a vast commercial oil palm plantation named ADAPALM.

The Adapalm Mills was officially established in the year 1979 by the Michael Okpara administration of the Eastern Region. The palm mill was sustained and kept afloat by the late Sam Mbakwe’s administration.

The Oil Palm Plantation began with over 1000 employees with annual sales of about $5 million.

Adapalm contributed to the economic growth of the then Eastern Region as the wealth generated through the plantation reflected on its host city and the state economy.

Recently, the court ordered the recovery of the plantations which Okorocha said were leased out to investors and left in ruins till date.

We hope the government can properly and effectively harnessed ADAPALM.
