Lagos 2023: Celebrities Who Are Fueling Tribal Bigotry For Political Gain Deserve To Bullied - Falz

Amid the ongoing heated faceoff between certain tribes on social media ahead of the much-anticipated governorship elections scheduled to hold on the 11th of March 2023, popular Rapper, Lawyer, and Human Rights activist, Folarin Falana, also known as 'Falz', has come out to share his thoughts on fellow celebrities who have been caught up in the ethnic vitriol and hate speech spreading across social media platforms.

Speaking during an interview on News Central TV's 'Breakfast Central' program on Tuesday, Falz, who is the son of one of Nigeria's foremost legal luminaries, Femi Falana (SAN), opined that though cyberbullying should not be encouraged at any level, he feels, however, that some of his colleagues who have been seen deliberately fueling ethnic and tribal bigotry simply because they want to be rewarded by certain politicians deserve all the bullying they receive from angry Nigerians.

"I find this issue to be funny and at the same time, not funny because I see where people are coming from. For the ones (celebrities) that have fueled the tribalism and bigotry that spoke about earlier on, I think that they hundred percent deserve the bullying that they get because it is stupid of them. It is such an evil thing to see these guys do this just for political gain.

And I have seen celebrities that I thought had some sense in them, blatantly fueling this thing, this tribal bigotry in such a senseless manner. I think those ones deserve the bullying. However, for others who have simply come out to say "this is my preferred candidate", of cause, everyone should be free to make their choice and be free from any attack. But then, we know what we are going through in this country, and we know the people that have kept us here as a nation. So, when some celebrities come with their full chest to say they support such persons, I see why Nigerians attack them. However, it is not okay. Nobody should be bullied for making a choice."
