AKWA IBOM STATE CHILDREN'S PARLIAMENT GETS NEW OFFICERS.
Rhoda Vincent from Esit Eket Local Government Area emerged as the Speaker while Mfoniso Titus from Essien udim local government area was elected the deputy speaker alongside others.
The officers have since been sworn into office.
The election had in attendance the Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Dr. Ini Adiakpan, Permanent Secretary, Mrs Margaret Edem and staff of the Ministry of Women Affairs and social Welfare.
The Honourable Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Welfare, Dr. Ini Adiakpan congratulated the newly elected children parliamentarian and lauded the fact that the democratic behavior has been vested on them.
She urged them to represent the parliament well in their respective Local Government Areas.
Dr Adiakpan charged the parliamentarians to bring up issues affecting the children and also come up with solutions that will help Akwa Ibom Children.
She maintained that those elected today are product of good leadership.
The Commissioner appreciated the State Governor, Mr Udom Emmanuel and wife, Dr. Mrs Martha Udom who are children friendly for always supporting and having the welfare of the children at heart.
The permanent Secretary, Mrs Margaret Edem who supervised the election hailed the children for their courage to participate in the exercise.
She lauded all the directors, legal advisers and the entire staff of the Ministry for ensuring the success of the event.
