The Union of cattle herders in Nigeria know as the Miyetti Allah, has objected the Southwest Governors' ban on open grazing of cattle in the South-West region of the country. The ban imposed on open grazing was a result of the meeting held by South-West Governors in January, in One State capital, Akure in which the Governors prohibited open grazing in the region. It has also been noted that the South-East Governors had also prohibited the act of open grazing in the entire South-East region.
In reaction to this effect, Saleh Alhassan, who is the Secretary-General of Miyetti Allah Kautal Hore expressed that the prohibition placed on open grazing is direct attack on the Fulani herdsmen to destabilize their means of survival and livelihood, and as well as to render them despondent. And owing to this effect, he expressed that that open grazing will not be banned as they are aiming at destabilizing the herders, rendering them despondent, destroying their livelihood and displacing them. The ban on open grazing is what he insinuated as an eviction notice. He expressed that the ban on open grazing will change the herders into radicals which in the way round will affect the country and worse the insecurity challenge in the country. He also expressed that Ranching system which was suggested for the Fulani herders will be somehow difficult, just like imposing mechanized farming on farmers.
