In a media briefing held on Thursday, 1st of April, The Independent national electoral commission(INEC) chairman Professor Mahmood Yakubu pronounced that voters registration will commence on June 8 across the 774 local government areas of the country. The electoral body have decided to make use of voters enrollment devices for the continuous voters registration instead of the direct data capturing machine.
He also stated that the registration exercise will continue from the slated time til the third quarter of 2022 and advised everyone above 18 should endeavour to get their cards so as to exercise their voting rights.
The commission also stated that anyone who want to change their name or correct any mistake on their card are also eligible to register. Those who lost their permanently voters card (PVC) can apply too.
Meanwhile, in a meeting held in Abuja on Wednesday April 28; The Electoral commission chairman Professor Mahmood Yakubu announced that the general elections to elect the President, Vice President, Senate and House of Representatives would take place on the 18th of February, 2023.
