The gunmen unleased teror and destroyed a lot of properties inside and outside the prison facility, after which they then freed some prisoners before leaving the vicinity.
This sparked a lot reactions among Nigerians who were surprised by this incident. This also prompted the vice president Yemi Osinbajo, and the former IGP Muhammed Adamu to visit the scene of attack and both of them condemned the incident. President Muhammadu Buhari also reacted from abroad, he too condemned the attack.
The following day after the incident, the Nigerian police issued out a directive, asking inmate who fled to return.
And today just some few hours ago, the Nigerian Correctional Service, has unveiled pictures and identity of some of the inmates who escaped from the Owerri Custodial Centre, during the jailbreak.
This move is to aid the public in identifying them and to report to the nearest police station should they come across any of the escapees. More pictures of the run-away inmate would soon be released too, albeit, for the main time, below are the picture of those that have been released.
