I felt that there was no need to campaign against Obi as we are together on Southern Presidency—Wike

The G5 Governors, according to Governor Nyesom Wike, made a decision to ensure that the South gained power, and in all the States under their control, the Labour Party is either the leading party and the APC is the second-leading party.

Peter Obi's loss in his State was eventually addressed by Wike to people who believed he was the one who worked against him and ran a campaign against him (Rivers). When speaking to his constituents in Rivers State, Wike claimed that he had never campaigned against Peter Obi and that even if he had, Obi couldn't harm him.

According to him, "I never campaigned against Obi, I never did that. Even if I did, he cannot do me anything. I felt that there was no need to campaign against him since we are together on Southern Presidency. Within us in our integrity group, we agreed that we must make sure power comes to the South."
