Court adjourns Obi’s petition against Tinubu till May 17

The Presidential Election Petition Tribunal, PEPC, sitting in Abuja has deferred further proceedings on the petition the candidate of the Labour Party, LP, Mr. Peter Obi, filed to challenge the outcome of the 2023 presidential election, to May 17.
The adjournment followed an agreement by all the parties in the matter.
Cited as 1st to 4th respondents in the petition are the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC; the President-elect, Bola Tinubu; Vice-President-elect, Kashim Shettima, and All Progressives Congress, APC.
Osinbajo presides over FEC meeting

Vice President Yemi Osinbajo is currently presiding over this week’s Federal Executive Council meeting at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
Wednesday’s meeting, which began a few minutes past 10:00 am, is the Council’s antepenultimate before the inauguration of a new president on May 29, 2023.
Ministers of Special Duties, George Akume, and Communication and Digital Economy, Isa Pantami, said the opening Christian and Muslim prayers, respectively.
Present at the FEC meeting is the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha; the Head of Civil Service, Dr Folashade Yemi-Esan, and the President’s Chief of Staff, Prof. Ibrahim Gambari.
Presidential Poll Tribunal: I’ll respond to Atiku’s request for live broadcast – Tinubu

The President-elect, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, has told the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal sitting in Abuja that he will respond to Atiku Abubakar’s request for proceedings to be broadcast live.
The tribunal then adjourned till Thursday to enable him respond to the application seeking an order to allow live coverage of day-to-day proceedings on petitions seeking to nullify his election.
In an application, dated May 5, former Vice President and candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in the presidential election that held on February 25, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, had through his team of lawyers led by Chief Chris Uche (SAN), urged the court to grant permission for proceedings in the petition he lodged to challenge the return of Tinubu as winner of the election, to be televised.
Tinubu congratulates Adeleke, supporters jubilate

The Supreme Court on Tuesday upheld the decision of the Court of Appeal in Abuja which on March 24 affirmed Ademola Adeleke of the Peoples Democratic Party as the winner of the July 16, 2022 governorship election in Osun State.
the President-elect, Bola Tinubu, who can be described as Oyetola’s political mentor, has congratulated Adeleke.
In a statement by his media aide, Tunde Rahman, Tinubu added that, “The apex court in the land has spoken and all of us must obey its verdict. It is the right thing to do for democracy and rule of law to continue to thrive in the land.
