On Issues with Babajide Nigeria's Democracy Day was celebrated and Babajide Kolade-Otitoju took time out to laud President Muhammad Buhari for the infrastructural development in Nigeria, regardless of the nation's economic challenges.
Here's what BKO said:
"President Buhari's government scores high, in the area of infrastructure. Given the paucity of funds, largely caused by the decline in oil prices, we sincerely did not expect a lot infrastructural development.
President Buhari came into power and he was determined to cause change in Nigeria. I still remember the interview he had with TVC in Daura, where he promised to revamp rail transport in Nigeria. I recall that he said that he was not interested in revamping the air sector because it was the favourite means of transportation for the elite. Today, we can see what the President has done in the rail transport systems in Nigeria.
Yes, the Abuja-Kaduna rail way was 95 percent completed by the Goodluck Jonathan administration, but the President has leveraged on that to build more rail ways like the Lagos-Ibadan railway. The Minister of Transport is also trying to link the heavily congested Apapa port by rail.
President Buhari's goverment is also doing well in terms of road construction and I am glad that they appointed an experienced Engineer as the Head of Federal Road Maintenance Agency (FERMA). Again, Buhari's adminstration has Raji Fashola as the Minister of Works. Fashola is a man associated with hard work and he already has a history of success stories in Lagos State. Fashola is currently working on the completion of the second Niger bridge, a project that was inherited and originally financed by the Goodluck Jonathan's administration.
Go to many tertiary institutions in Nigeria and you would see some of the good roads Fashola has built. This is one of the benefits of placing capable people in the right positions and I'm sure that President Buhari is reaping the benefits."
