Magu Probe: Prepare for Surprises, Presidency Tells Nigerians

Nigerians have been asked by The Presidency to prepare for surprises as the panel probing the suspended acting Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Ibrahim Magu, gets ready to submit its report to the Federal Government.

This was disclosed today by the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, while featuring on a Channels Television’s programme, ‘Politics Today’, which was aired on Sunday.

He said the Presidency had been receiving some little updates from the Justice Ayo Salami-led panel and Nigerians would be surprised with the findings of the Panel.

On the outbursts of some people questioning the reliability of the probe, Garba Shehu asked Nigerians to ignore such persons as the findings of the probe will be damning.

The Senior Special Assistant to the President also responded to the claims by Magu’s lawyers that the probe was a witch-hunt, Shehu said, “I guess this is a question for the Justice Ayo Salami panel and I must say that panel is composed of some of this country’s most honoured people with integrity who will do the right thing."

He added that, “I am not going to pre-empt the panel investigation but I just advice Nigerians to hold their hearts in their hands. By the time they are done with this job and they come out with the reports prepare yourselves for surprises.

He advised Nigerians not to be confused by the outburst of anybody as the feelers the Federal Government is getting from what is transpiring at the Panel is convincing enough.
