On Monday, the former vice president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Atiku Abubakar, The president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, President Muhammadu Buhari, former Aviation Minister, Femi Fani-Kayode, celebrated their political colleague Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida as he turns 80-year-old.
Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida GCFR is popularly known as IBB is a retired Nigerian Army general who ruled the Federal Republic of Nigeria from 27 August 1985 until his resignation in August 1993. He turned 80-years-old yesterday August 17, 2021.
Because of this his political colleagues around the country such as Atiku Abubakar, Muhammadu Buhari, and Femi Fani-Kayode, have celebrated him.
Atiku Abubakar through his media aide published a post on his official Facebook page to celebrate Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida. According to the statement shared online, Atiku Abubakar prayed that the Lord would bless and provide good health to Babangida.
The statement reads, "Former Vice President of Nigeria Atiku Abubakar has described former military ruler General Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida as the cornerstone of Nigeria's unity and stability.
"In his message of congratulations on his 80th birthday on Tuesday, August 17, Atiku described how IBB has created a government that unites all ethnic groups in Nigeria and unites the country's religions.
"There is no way you can thwart IBB's efforts to form an inclusive government, - Atiku said in a statement issued by his media aide Paul Ibe.
"The former vice president said even Babangida himself could not design the development projects he had created during his military rule, of which the country is still proud.
"Atiku further congratulated IBB on his commitment to the future of the country and his commitment to the development of the country.
"The former vice president recounted the story of how Babangida's childhood began. He describes how he grew up without a mother or a father, but he worked hard until he reached the point where he was the best in his life.
"He described IBB as a man of knowledge, skills, health, and mindset whose whole life was exemplified.
"He prays to the Lord for many more blessed and healthy years."
President Muhammadu Buhari on the other hand celebrated Ibrahim Babangida. The president through his Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina, published a post on Facebook to celebrate Babangida.
According to the statement shared online by Femi Adesina, Buhari wished Babangida long and healthy life, as he marks his 80th birthday
The statement partly reads, "President Muhammadu Buhari sends birthday greetings to former President Ibrahim Babangida, wishing him a “long and healthy life”, as he marks his 80th birthday.
"President Buhari expresses hope that privileged Nigerians like President Babangida and others like himself will recommit to ongoing efforts to help the nation to reach more glory, progress, and prosperity."
Femi Fani-Kayode has also celebrated General Babangida on his 80th birthday.
The former aviation Minister and philanthropist published a post on Facebook to celebrate the Nigerian politician. Femi Fani-Kayode asked God to continue to be with General Babangida. He also wished Babangida many more years to come.
He said, "Happy 80th birthday to President Ibrahim Babangida, a great leader, a kind and compassionate man, an irrepressible warrior, a formidable intellectual, and one of Nigeria's foremost elder statesmen. May God continue to be with you, sir. Many more years to come."
