Some beneficiaries of the Npower programme, which is a programme under the National Social Investment Programme(NSIP) of the federal government has asked the honourable minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development, Ms Sadiya Umar Farouq, for their outstanding stipend payment.
Investigation reveals that the outgoing beneficiaries of the Npower programme are being owed at least June stipend, even though the month of July is almost over.
Some beneficiaries, according to credible information are being owed months, even as the batches A and B are being exited from the programme.
Npower had stated that Batch A have been exited from the programme last month, while Batch B beneficiaries will be exited at the end of this month.
Despite this, none of the two batches have been paid June stipend which they are duly entitled to. The June stipend for batch A will be their final stipend payment, while batch B will be entitled to the July stipend.
On the verified twitter account of the female minister under whose responsibility Npower programme falls, Sadiya Farouq, beneficiaries have continued to ask for their payment, citing hunger and the need to feed their family members.
The minister has however kept mute over the non payment, refusing to communicate the reason for the late commencement of payment, an action that has continued to make beneficiaries anxious about when payment will commence.
