Opinion: 3 Statements Femi Fani-Kayode made today which suggest that all may not be well with PDP

The Peoples Democratic Party has lost several key members in the last few months, one of the most recent ones is the defection of the Zamfara State Governor, Bello Matawalle.

His defection to the All Progressive Congress came some days after a Delta State Senator, Peter Nwaoboshi, defected shortly after being suspended by the PDP for alleged anti-party activities.

Ever since the news of Bello Matawalle's defection came up, the PDP has threatened to asked the court to compel him to rescind his mandate.

Former minister of Aviation, Femi Fani Kayode, made a long post on his Twitter handle regarding the issue today. He said that it is senseless for his party (PDP) to threaten Bello Matawalle.

Going through the statement by Femi Fani Kayode, I discovered three things he said which suggest that all may not be well with the leadership of the PDP.

The first statement he made was; "In the last few months PDP has lost 3 Governors and a handful of Senators and House Members. I can confirm that more surprises are coming soon".

For someone like Femi Fani Kayode to confirm boldly that more surprises are coming soon, it clearly suggests that things may not be going well with both the leadership and members of the party.

It seems there are unresolved problems and conflicts within members of the party which is why some of them are leaving the party.

The second statement was; "You are meant to reach out to those that are aggrieved & you are not meant to insult them & tell them to go to hell.

We all remember the circumstances that led to the defection of Senator Peter Nwaoboshi, from the PDP to the APC. The senator was suspended for alleged anti-party activities and unprovoked statements towards the Delta State governor, Senator Okowa.

The senator defected after the leadership of the party at the national level refused to wade into the matter and reverse the suspension.

From the statement made by Femi Fani Kayode, it seems there are many members of the PDP who are aggrieved and the leadership of the party is paying deaf ears or being arrogant towards them.

The third statement he made was; "If you insist on treating them with contempt you may pay heavily for it later. In this game everyone matters, no matter how big or small."

The statement above suggests that the leadership of the part is looking down on some of their members, it seems that some of the people piloting the affairs of the party are thinking that they are above everybody, thereby treating some members with contempt. Just like Femi Fani Kayode has said, everyone is important but it looks like some people at the PDP are looking down on others.

The three statements above suggests that all may not be well with PDP and I hope the leadership of the party move quickly to resolve whatsoever may be the problem.
