Many people may not believe that Governor Yahaya Bello is very serious about his presidential ambition in 2023 but he has insisted that he would contest.
It would be recalled that Bello has been meeting some youths and encouraging them to support his presidential ambition. He maintained that he is in the race and he is confident that he stands a good chance to pick the presidential ticket of his party, the All Progressives Congress, APC.

What he would do if his bid fails
Since any bid can go either ways, Bello is thinking in that direction. The Kogi Governor revealed that he would back a female candidate for President if his bid fails. In this regard, Bello believes that women should be given the chance to contest for any position in Nigeria including the post of the President. So, he would like to start making that real by backing a female candidate if his bid fails in any way.

How Bello stood against party and other factors to push his ambition
First, there are indications that APC may adopt zoning in 2023. In this regard, the APC is most likely to zone its presidential ticket to the South since President Muhammadu Buhari is from the North and he would complete his second term in 2023. But, Bello kicked against zoning. He insisted that he would contest against this odd because zoning in not in the Nigerian constitution or in the APC constitution.

Again, when the ruling APC mulled adopting a consensus candidate, Bello stood against it. He vowed to resist that arguing that consensus option is not democratic and the party's constitution does not recommend it. He stated that none of those factors would stop him from contesting for President in 2023. The Kogi Governor believes that he needs the youths to help make his ambition work out. Since then, he has been reaching out to the youth groups including some young Nigerians in the Sports fields.

Apart from the youths, Bello has been courting women groups to get their support. He currently has many women in his government. He has also been recognized as the ''Hero of Women Inclusion'' by the Nigerian Women Arise for Nigeria awareness campaign. Will Bello's bid work or do you see his promise to support a female working out instead?
