Mr. Bayo Onanuga, a spokesperson for the All Progressives Congress Presidential Campaign Council, insists that the 2023 election was the best, most free, fair, and transparent election he has ever witnessed since the Second Republic of Nigeria. He stated that the Independent National Electoral Commission should be applauded, not condemned.
Recall that the outcome of the 2023 presidential elections is being disputed by some parties, such as the Labour Party and Peoples Democratic Party. The aggrieved parties accused INEC of not doing up to the expectations of Nigerians.
However, Mr Onanuga whose principal Bola Asiwaju Ahmed Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress emerged victorious with more than 18 million votes argued that the introduction of Biomodial Voters Accreditation System (BVAS) helped a lot in fighting electoral malpractices.
In his words – "The introduction of BVAS made a significant difference and made the 2023 election, the most technologically driven poll ever conducted in our country. And the best. BVAS made it impossible for parties to record outlandish numbers in their strongholds. It ensured that only the accredited voters voted. INEC Deserves Praise Not Ridicule."
Meanwhile, the post-electoral petition court hearing is scheduled to hold at the tribunal today, Monday, 8th of May, in Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory.
