To ensure a peaceful conduct of the governorship poll, the federal government beefed up the security in the state to maintain peace and normalcy during and after the election. The Nigeria police has already deployed 34,587 officials for the election.

Residents of the state have been called not to be scared by heavy security presence who are deployed to maintain law and order in the State.

It is as a result of this the apex Igbo socio-cultural organisation, Ohanaeze Ndigbo, called on Ndi Anambra to go out en masse on Saturday to vote for the candidate of their choice in the governorship election.

According to a report by PUNCH, Ohanaeze explained that the people of the State should not be scared by the heavy security presence in the State and rather see it as an encouragement to vote for the candidate of their choice on Saturday.

Recall that before Ohanaeze called on the people of Anambra State to see the heavy security presence as source of encouragement, there have been speculations that the heavy security presence has created fear in the State.

With the timely advice of the apex Igbo socio-cultural organisation, the people of Anambra State might be convinced to go out to vote for the candidate of their choice on Saturday and see the heavy presence of security officials as a means to protect them during and after the election.

The presence of the security officials in the State is not to scare the people, it is to maintain law and order and ensure the safety of the voters during and after the Saturday governorship election in the State. This is why Ohanaeze wants Ndi Anambra to go out en masse to exercise their franchise.
