Tinubu has floated a campaign office in Lagos. But with the looks of things in Nigeria and his health condition, he might have to anoint a candidate for 2023. Many people have suggested that he might anoint the current Vice President of Nigeria, Professor Yemi Osinbajo. But Tinubu understands politics and will want somebody that has the political charisma in Nigeria.
Many politicians in Nigeria have suggested that he supports Chibuike Amaechi for 2023. Because he satisfies the morality of power rotation in a country that has federal character as its idea of fairness. And he satisfies the advocacy for the Igbo presidency. Igbo presidency will help national unity. Igbo presidency by a non-southeastern Igbo will help Igbo unity. Amaechi is sufficiently maverick not to be a weakling or anybody puppet. Which is what Nigerians love about him. As Rivers governor, he did something outstanding.

He tried to bridge the gap between the rich and the poor by citing the kinds of education and health facilities of the rich in poor neighborhoods. That is practical egalitarianism. If what he did with the police in Rivers is anything to go by the law enforcement will be revolutionalized by an Amaechi presidency. First, he retained them. Then he catered for the needs. After that, he laid down the rules. We saw the police and marveled. We saw the militants disappear from Rivers and we wondered.
With these criteria, Tinubu will likely support him. His organizational capacity is top-notch. Tinubu is more methodical than Amaechi and probably has better talent gathering capacity. But many do not know. Amaechi kept a think tank in Lagos while running Rivers. That think-tank of smart young Nigerians kept fed him ideas and censored his policies. So when it comes to forward-thinking and innovation, Amaechi and Tinubu are good. Amaechi has flaws. Tinubu has flaws.
