One Major Achievement Of Buhari That Shows He Is A Finisher According To Femi Adesina

President Buhari's Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Mr. Femi Adesina this Friday in his weekly column 'From The Inside' praised the president on a major achievement he has achieved which his predecessors could not.

This achievement according to the president's Special Adviser is the signing into law of the Petroleum Industry Bill, which according to him has taken so long with several presidents not being able to achieve the singular feat achieved by the president.

The signing of the bill this week elicited diverse reactions and according to Mr. Femi Adesina, President Buhari has thus done what even Napoleon could not do. According to him, the Bill defied three presidents. First, former President Olusegun Obasanjo who was the one who introduced it, secondly it got the better of former President Umaru Musa Yar'Adua who is now late, worsted Goodluck Jonathan and was finally subdued by President Buhari.

He says this shows that Buhari has finally proven to be adept at concluding things that has long been abandoned by other leaders before him.

The Petroleum Industry Bill he says overwhelmed eight National Assemblies from the very first to the eighth before it could be passed into law during the tenure of the ninth assembly. But he says this was achieved through synergy and cooperation between the Executive arm of government led by Buhari and the Ninth Assembly and Nigeria now has a law for her main cash cow which is the oil and gas industry more than 50 years after the last legislation was carried out which had before now become obsolete.

Praising the president, he described him as a master finisher with examples in different spheres of Nigeria's national life. From projects to policies and proposed laws which have been in the pipeline for more than two decades.

In the piece, Mr. Adesina pointed out some achievements in the infrastructure revolution going on in the water sector to buttress his points about Buhari's achievements.

Mr. Adesina reveals that when the administration took over in 2015, more than half of the nation's irrigation projects were not working. The administration he says inherited 116 major ongoing and abandoned projects

Adesina went ahead to say that what usually happens when new administrations come into power is that they revoke contracts already given out just simply because they want to also get kickbacks from the contract award process. But this was not so with Buhari. He says this showed in the Abuja-Kaduna rail project which Buhari inherited and completed along with many others which will soon be compiled and published for Nigerians to see.

Adesina went ahead to expatiate that there are over 20 dams in Nigeria which have the capacity to provide about 11.2 billion cubic meters of water for irrigation for as well as 900 cubic meters for water supply. Today he says out of the 37 that was inherited in an almost dying state, 12 have now been completed while the remaining 20have been penciled down for completion by 2023.

Mr. Adesina went ahead to reveal that these plants have been abandoned for so many years as he highlights them:

For example, Kashimbilla Multipurpose Dam, in Taraba State was started in 2007 but completed by Buhari. The Ogwashi-Uku Multipurpose Dam which is located in Delta State was started in 2014 but finished by Buhari. The Adada Dam in Enugu State was started in 2011 but finished also by Buhari.

All these goes to show that President Buhari is indeed a finisher.
