The All Progressives Congress APC is the ruling Party in the country. The Party won most of the states in the north but couldn't win most of the States in the Southsouth and and southeast. The Peoples Democratic Party PDP, which happens to the main Opposition Party in the country won most States in the two region. The PDP has been ruling Party in the Southsouth and southeast since 1999 when President Olusegun Obasanjo was the President of the country. Though some state like Anambra State was once controlled by the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA before the Peoples Democratic Party PDP hijacked the State from the Party.
The Southsouth and the southeast have been the stronghold of the Peoples Democratic Party PDP. It should be recalled that the last Presidential Polls that brought President Muhammadu Buhari into Power, the PDP won almost all the states in the Southsouth and southeast. If not that President Muhammadu Buhari won most of the mega states in the North, The PDP would be been declared as the overall winner in 2019 Presidential Polls.
As the 2023 Polls is fast approaching, the All Progressives Congress APC will loose some of the states to the Opposition, likewise the Party may win some of the States from the opposition both in the north and the South. Though, The state Governors may want to use all the resources in their capacity to win the forthcoming Polls, but nevertheless, the ruling Party will try as much as possible to retain the seats for the Party in their various states.
The All Progressives Congress APC, as a party may want to use the Privilege of being the ruling Party over the main Opposition Party, Peoples Democratic Party PDP in the country. The APC may want to use the federal might over the Peoples Democratic Party PDP in the PDP controlled States. But if the PDP has done well in their various states they may still retain the Governorship seats for their Party beyond the 2023 Polls.
Two PDP States, APC May Win In 2023 Presidential Polls
The All Progressives Congress APC May win Akwa Ibom State in 2023 Polls. Though the Governor of the State won the 2019 Governorship Election under the Platform of the Peoples Democratic Party PDP. But the Governor was able to win the election, with the efforts of the former Governor of the State, Godwill Akpabio. Godwill Akpabio worked for the Success of the Governor of Akwa Ibom State in 2019 Governorship Polls.
The Peoples Democratic Party PDP and Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Udom Emmanuel may not be able to win the State again. The reason is, the former Governor, Godwil Akpabio, who has worked for the Success of the Party has defected to the Ruling All Progressives Congress APC, and it may be difficult for the PDP to retain the Governorship seat beyond the 2023 Polls.
The second State that may also be difficult for the Peoples Democratic Party PDP to win is Ebonyi State. The Governor of Ebonyi State, Governor David Umahi won the 2019 Governorship Election under the Platform of the Peoples Democratic Party PDP but he has dumped the Party for the ruling All Progressives Congress APC. It should be recalled that Governor David Umahi dumped the Peoples Democratic Party PDP on the Basis that the Party will not zone her Presidential ticket to the South unlike the All Progressives Congress APC, he stated further that, the southeast was being marginalised since creation of the PDP.
The Ebonyi State Governor will do everything in his capacity to ensure that he deliver the State for his new Party, All Progressives Congress APC in the forthcoming Polls. These two States, both Akwa Ibom and Ebonyi State may be difficult for the PDP to win in the forthcoming Election. Though The PDP will also try their best but the APC may use the federal might to win the state at all cost.
