The ruling APC party seized power from the PDP in 2015 after 16 years of PDP dominance and projections and calculations are already on for 2023. Despite no one declaring their interest openly to run for presidency yet, there are a few names that are coming to mind.
Yahaya Bello (Kogi Governor), Kayode Fayemi (Ekiti Governor), Peter Obi (Former Anambra state Governor), Bola Tinubu (Former Lagos state Governor) to mention a few are some of the persons who are allegedly interested in taking over from President Muhammadu Buhari.
National Leader of the APC, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Kayode Fayemi are from the South West, Yahaya Bello is from the North Central. Both the North and West have been producing Nigeria's presidents since 1999 till date.
Only the Igbos from the South East are yet to produce a President since 1999, it would only be fair if an Igbo man is giving the chance to be Nigeria's next president. And from all indications, Peter Obi from Anambra state is well positioned to fit in perfectly.
Though a staunch supporter of the PDP at the moment, the APC should approach Obi and convince him to join them. With Peter Obi as the flag bearer of the APC, I believe that the APC would retain power come 2023.
