Unlike their Counterparts in the Executive Arm of Government (Governors and President) who are eligible to spend a maximum of Eight years in Office, Nigerian Lawmakers tenure is unlimited, They 'll remain in office as long as they keep winning Elections. Below is a list of Longest Serving Lawmakers in Nigeria who have served in both House of Representatives and Senate

Senator Ahmed Ibrahim Lawan, The 61years-old Lawmaker boast of a Parliamentary Career spanning a stretch of 22years at the National Assembly, having started his journey in 1999 as a Member representing Bade/Jaskuko Federal Consistuency of Yobe State.

He was re-elected in 2003 and remained in this capacity till 2007, when he contested and was elected as Senator to represent Yobe North Senatorial District, a position he occupies till date. The APC Lawmaker currently serves as the Senate President. 

Another Top Lawmaker on the list is Senator Ali Ndume, He was first sworn in to represent Chibok/Damboa/Gwoza Federal Consistuency of Borno State, he was a Rep Member until 2011 when he decided to move forward to represent Borno South Senatorial District at the Upper Chamber (Senate).

At the inauguration of the Eight National Assembly In 2015, The APC Senator was appointment as the Senate Leader, a position he occupied until January 2017. The Third-term Senator won a re-election during the 2019 General Elections.

Also, Senator Phllip Aduda belong to this category, He is fondly called "Landlord" by his colleagues being the Representative of the FCT where the National Assembly is located.Senator Philip Aduda

Aduda was first sworn in as a Member of the House of Representatives in 2003 and he was there until 2011 when he stepped up to the Senate. The 51years-old PDP Lawmaker served as the Senate Minority Leader during the 8th National Assembly.
