The Lagos State Governorship Candidate of Action Alliance (AA), Mr Tope Balogun, on Monday, said it was untrue that he had stepped down his ambition to support the re-election of Gov. Babajide Sanwo-Olu.

The 40-year-old Computer Scientist and IT expert told Newsmen in Lagos that he was determined to beat Sanwo-Olu in Saturday’s Governorship and House of Assembly elections.

Balogun said: “I don’t know why this lie from the pit of hell has so much spread. I am really surprised that people can give in to such fallacy.

“I am a man of principle and I have my integrity. I am having a reason for contesting this election.

Elder statesman and Grand patron Northern Alliance Committee Tanko Yakasai has called out people trying to discredit the result of the Presidential elections.

According to him, the electoral victory of President-Elect, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu has been widely accepted by Nigerians.

Yakasai said the natural thing to do was to give the President-Elect the maximum support in the task of tackling the many issues bedeviling the country.

Gumi’s mum dies at 84

Kaduna-based Islamic scholar and cleric, Sheikh Ahmad Gumi, yesterday announced the death of his mother, Hajia Aishatu-Dammu Gumi.

The mother of the renowned Islamic preacher and scholar died at the Federal Medical Centre (FMC) in Abuja.

It was gathered that the elderly woman died around 5.30 p.m and preparations were in top gear to bury her today at Unguwar Sarki Muslim Cemetery in Kaduna.

DSS, Police react to controversial viral audio on Sokoto peace accord

The Police and the Department of State Security (DSS) in Sokoto have dissociated themselves from a viral audio purporting that a former governor of the state Sen. Aliyu Wamakko, refused to sign a peace accord ahead of the governorship election.

It was also alleged in the audio that the state commissioner of police and the Director of DSS working worked together on the peace accord with former governor Attahiru Bafarawa.

But in a statement jointly issued on Sunday by Mr Muhammed Gumel, the state Commissioner of Police, and Mr Yahaya Hassan, the State Director of DSS, the two security forces said the content of the audio was distorted.

“The audio, which was released by the media handlers of the former governor Attahiru Bafarawa, is currently in circulation.
