Imo Deputy Speaker Praises SWAN On Progressive Reportage

The Deputy Speaker of Imo State House of Assembly, Hon.Chyna Amara Iwuanyanwu has extolled the high commitment being exhibited by the State Chapter of Sports Writers Association of Nigeria SWAN in changing aspect of reporting to positive in the state.

The lawmaker stated this shortly after he was honoured with the decoration as patron of SWAN in the state by the leadership of the association.

Iwuanyanwu who spoke in appreciation of the honour done to him, appealed to the sports writers to always maintain their position in the course of reporting that will promote a healthy state.

The legislator who is also the Chairman Committee on Sports in the State House of Assembly re-echoed the enormous respect he has for journalists giving his background as a son of a journalist.

He said that he was highly elated for the honour done to him by the association as a patron added that because his father was a journalist and because of that he would continue to respect journalists.

The Deputy speaker was equally presented with a certificate if honour in appreciation of his enormous contributions in sports development.

In his speech earlier, the Chairman of SWAN in Imo State, Comrade Everest Ezihe while decorating the state patron, said that the honour was recognition of his contributions in the areas of sports developments in the state.

He said that within this shortest time, the Deputy Speaker have done wonderfully well while appealing to him to look in wards into other sports such as hockey, handball, basketball, among others in the state with a view to reviving them.

SWAN equally appealed to the Deputy Speaker to look into what could described as bickering in the Heartland Fc Owerri with a view to resolving the issues for the good of the club.

The body used the forum to commend the Governor Dist.Sen.Hope Uzodimma for renovating Dan Anyiam Sports Stadium and for the state of the arts facilities put in place at the stadium.
