The Unrest In Afghanistan Is Enough To Show That Pres. Buhari Should Be Praised For Nigeria's Unity

It is obvious that the sudden take over of Afghanistan's presidential palace by Taliban has resulted in massive unrest. According to a report from Punch Newspapers, Taliban pledges peaceful relation as US set to airlift 9,000 daily. On Tuesday, US military flights restarted the evacuation of diplomats and civilians from Afghanistan after they were suspended due to chaos at the airport.

As reported, thousands of people have been flown by US military planes, including US citizens, Afghans who qualify for the US special immigrant visa, as well as people from other countries.

Why should President Muhammadu Buhari be praised?

In my opinion, President Muhammadu Buhari should be praised for Nigeria's unity. Despite the unrest and threats from IPOB/ESN and the Oduduwa nation group, the authorities did everything it could to ensure that there is unity.

Boko Haram/ISWAP terrorists were major threats to Nigeria's unity, but it is clear that the Nigerian military is gradually winning the battle. Many Boko Haram/ISWAP terrorists have been reported to have openly surrendered to the Nigerian military, begging for forgiveness from Nigerians and declaring their willingness to follow the path of peace.

According to the Daily Post Nigeria, over 1,500 Boko Haram/ISWAP members surrendered in just four months.

Following the Taliban insurgents' victory over the Afghan military, there were many varied views from the Nigerian people regarding security.

It wasn't wrong for people to call on the Federal Government to ensure that a similar catastrophe is prevented from occuring in Nigeria, but the public is also expected to celebrate President Muhammadu Buhari's efforts and applaud him for successfully combating insecurity to the point where terrorists are now surrendering to the Nigerian military.
