Abia legislator Senator Orji Uzor Kalu has predicted a fight with the ruling party's leadership over plans to zone the seat for a specific region as the APC's Senate President race heats up in the 10th National Assembly.
In the recent two weeks, media sites have reported that the APC and the President-elect had agreed to zone the Senate President's seat to the South-South region and nominate Senator Godswill Akpabio.
At a tense meeting with the ruling party's National Working Committee at its secretariat on Thursday, Kalu, who is also competing for the seat, warned that he and other irate legislators would battle any attempt to put a candidate on them.
He said he and other unhappy candidates will vote against the APC's zoning system in the National Assembly.
He flatly refused to engage in the APC's plan. I'm religious and party-affiliated. I brought three employees because I never disobeyed this so called party but this is unfair to me.
This time, you'll see me. For the first time, we're against the party. We won't follow the Senate floor commands.
