Three Mistakes Wike Must Avoid To Grab The PDP Presidential Ticket

As the battle for the presidential ticket in the People Democratic Party (PDP) continues, aspirants are tightening their seatbelts to do whatever it takes to grab the ticket.

The PDP had zoned its National Chairmanship position to the North, leaving many to wonder which zone takes the ticket. No one knows if the party will go to the south, whether it will still be zoned to the North or whether it will be thrown open.

In the South, one of the major contenders for the position is the governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike. He is one of those Southerners that have indicated an interest in the position.

In this article, we look at three mistakes he must avoid if he must grab the presidential ticket.

One mistake Wike must avoid, else it will be hard for him to grab the presidential ticket is by allowing the PDP to throw its ticket open for any eligible candidate to contest.

Secondly, Wike should not overlook members of the APC in Rivers State who are trying to lure more PDP members to their side. Recall that Chisom Dike, the lawmaker representing Eleme/Tai and/Oyigbo federal constituency of Rivers State, recently dumped the PDP for the APC.

The more PDP members that join the APC, the lesser his chances of grabbing the ticket. Embattled Uche Second who is also from Rivers State, and has been at loggerheads with Wike is another threat to him grabbing the ticket.

Thirdly, Wike should not solely rely on his popularity in the PDP and the south, else Jonathan will defeat him.

Regardless of the recent happenings in Nigeria, Jonathan is still loved by many Nigerians both in the South and in the North. So if Wike makes any slight mistake of relaxing, Jonathan will grab the ticket.
