According Adamu after seeing the destruction Cause by IPOB, He Charge the police; “Be brutal against Members of the proscribed Independent People of Biafra (IPOB),” Adamu told Policemen in Imo State.
During a visit to the burnt-out Imo Police Command headquarters and the Owerri Correctional Service, he gave the order.
The IGP also ordered his men to “crush them to the last man” by using their weapons against IPOB members.
Hundreds of inmates were released after unknown gunmen assaulted the police headquarters and the Correctional Centre in Owerri.
The attackers, who were active from 1 a.m. to 3 a.m., released suspects from almost all of the cells at the command's State Criminal Investigation Department.
In response to the incident, the IGP claimed that the attack was carried out by members of IPOB's Eastern Security Network, or ESN.
